NAZAR KAMANGAR is an oral care entrepreneur with a mission: to put a smile on everybody’s face. The businesswoman has two kids, and her sister, Nadia, is a dentist in the DC area. As such, she had a unique perspective on the dental industry. In 2015, Nazar created Smile Stations with Dr. Omid Mehdipour, an orthodontist and longstanding friend. They developed a digital and mobile platform for dentists to communicate with patients. Since 2020 Nazar is the CEO of Brushlink who makes smart toothbrushes, they created brand-new gamification content to engage children and brush up their tooth brushing behavior.
During her formative years in Iran, Nazar loved reading. Her mother often encouraged her daughter to become a writer, but sadly, time ran out and her mother was lost to pancreatic cancer in 2011. Though she wishes her mother were here to see it, Nazar is proud to finally fulfil that promise.
Moving to Canada and then the US, Nazar worked in both private and public sector companies. She realized there was an urgent need to improve oral health education and decided to combine her business acumen with her creative drive. With Henry Beats the Mouth Monsters and Nina and the hurtful tooth she has also achieved her dream of becoming a writer.
Alongside all of this, Nazar is also currently an angel investor, member of a few Angel Groups and a mentor to startup founders; her expertise and guidance helping to springboard them towards financial gain and growth.
Always looking towards the future, she is excited to see what amazing developments the future will bring to startups and is looking forward to working with startup founders in oral care, healthcare, biotech, life science, robotics, food tech, tourism and SaaS information technology ideas. In her spare time Nazar is helping women entrepreneurs to improve the vision and success rate for their startups.
Nazar has an Executive MBA from St. Mary’s College in California and was an 2019 Edison Award finalist nominee for innovation in the oral care industry. In between her role as a senior executive, writing, investing, her consultancy work and the mentoring of startup founders, she loves to travel, cook, watch movies and go for long walks by the Bay.
